Global Mapping of Terrestrial Primary Productivity and Light-Use Efficiency with a Process-Based Model
نویسندگان
چکیده
The carbon dynamics of terrestrial ecosystems was globally simulated with a mechanistic model, Sim-CYCLE, at a spatial resolution of 0.5° × 0.5° in longitude and latitude. Gross photosynthetic production (GPP), net primary production (NPP), carbon storage, absorption of photosynthetically active radiation (APAR), and light-use efficiency (LUE) were addressed. Assuming an equilibrium state under the present environmental conditions, Sim-CYCLE estimated the annual global GPP and NPP as 124.7 and 60.4 Pg C yr–1, respectively. Based on the estimated APAR of 191.3 × 1021 J, the annual average biospheric LUEs for GPP and NPP were calculated as 0.652 and 0.315 g C MJ–1, respectively. Global maps obtained by the model simulation illustrate the heterogeneity of ecosystem functions over the land surface, from tropical rain forests to polar deserts. There was a significant correlation between the estimated APAR and NPP (r2 = 0.62, p < 0.0001); such model simulations and analyses should be effective for interdisciplinary research with remote sensing, in which a linear relationship between APAR and NPP is frequently assumed.

Estimating multi-period global cost efficiency and productivity change of systems with network structures
The current paper develops three different ways to measure the multi-period global cost efficiency for homogeneous networks of processes when the prices of exogenous inputs are known at all time periods. A multi-period network data envelopment analysis model is presented to measure the minimum cost of the network system based on the global production possibility set. We show that there is a rel...
متن کاملEvaluation of rangeland gross primary productivity sensitivity potential to drought using ecosystem modelling
Gross primary productivity is one of the most important factors in the carbon cycle of terrestrial ecosystems. With global warming increase, the frequent drought events and the specific response of regional vegetation to these changes, it is essential to identify and quantify the relationships between climatic and GPP data in arid region. In this study, the responses of gross primary productivi...

Abstract Heart patients displays several symptoms and it is hard to point them. Data envelopment analysis (DEA) provides a comparative efficiency degree for each decision-making units (DMUs) with several inputs and outputs. Evaluating of hospitals is one of the major applications in DEA. In this study, a comparison of additive model with standard input oriented and output oriented M...

The present study was an attempt to determine a relationship between foreign language reading anxiety and reading strategy use among a group of EFL Iranian readers (no = 100) with low vs. high proficiency levels. To this end, FLRAS (Foreign Language Reading Anxiety Scale) developed by Saito, Horwitz, and Garza, (1999) was used in order to measure the participants’ level of anxiety in reading an...
متن کاملEstimation of Actual Evapotranspiration, Water productivity, and Irrigation Efficiency of Wheat Fields in Surface and Sprinkler Irrigation Systems Using Remote Sensing
In arid and semi-arid regions, water resource management and optimization of applying irrigation water are particularly important. For optimization of applying irrigation water, the estimated values of actual evapotranspiration are necessary for avoiding excessive or inadequate applying water. The estimation of actual crop evapotranspiration is not possible in large areas using the traditional ...
